Susan Minor

October 7, 1947 — October 15, 2022

Temple

Susan Jean Minor, 75 of Temple, passed from this life Saturday, October 15, 2022. A memorial service in her honor will be held at 3 pm Saturday, November 19, 2022 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Susan was a survivor. Being the middle born of 5 children, Susan would prove to be the rebel of the family, as she loved to not only go her own way, but pave her own path in life. Many times, doing so with headstrong blindness, and finding herself in situations that hold a high cost of learning those lessons. In her early adult years, Susan struggled with many tribulations, none more so than with her marriages. What got her through some of those darkest moments and years was holding firm with her faith that God will see her through each step, with wisdom to follow from the ordeal each time. This is the single core point about Susan, that she held such a deep, and devoted faith in Jesus, no matter the trial she was enduring, she never wavered. Eventually Susan found her worldly “rock” in her third husband, William.

Despite life being so hard on her, Susan found the joys in the simple things in life. She adored her cats as if they were her children, to care for and love upon daily. She loved collecting Stuffed Animals throughout her life, as well as decked out her nursing home room loaded with them, a true symbolism of Susan’s deep-empathy for others through love and care. Thick skinned, and soft hearted, this is the kind of woman Susan was for her family. She was especially close with her older sister, Marge, whom she spent many days hanging out on Marge’s front porch or dining room table, chatting away. Susan would walk miles a few times a week and spend hours just enjoying the time spent with her big sister, they were truly the example of “Best Friends” in life.

Susan found her “home away from home” at Heights Baptist Church, which she was introduced to by her older sister, Marge, and her nephew, Walter. Through Heights Baptist Church’s activities and weekly meetings, she got to truly experience selfless compassion, grace, forgiveness, and a never-ending supply of fellowship in faith. Her fondest memories in the last 2 decades of her life mostly involved some event at Heights, or someone whom she met at Heights, interacting with her. Heights gave her a new sense of purpose and an even deeper love of Jesus in which she can never give enough gratification for the Heights Family.

Many people will miss Susan, who was a part of their lives over the years. She was the last of her generation of our family to leave this world and slip silently into the Savior’s Embrace.

Susan was a sweet and caring soul. Her greatest enjoyments in life were spending time with her sisters, Marge, Mary, and Cecilia when she had the chance, as well as spending quality time with her church family at Heights Baptist Church.

Susan leaves behind her husband, William, and was preceded in death by her all of her siblings.
