Lucia V. Duran, age 88 of Temple, passed away Monday, March 8, 2021, at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, March 12, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Temple. Burial will be in Bellwood Cemetery in Temple.

Lucia was born on July 6, 1932, to Mateo and Santos Villarreal in Milam, Texas. She married Julian Somora Duran, Sr. on January 5, 1946. Lucia always put her family first. She loved to cook and would enjoy cooking for her family and friends any time of the day. She always had a pot of coffee going. Lucia was such a caregiver and was always helping people in their time of need. She enjoyed playing bingo, often referred to as her "night job" and playing Loteria with her group of ladies, but her favorite pastime was dancing with her husband. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and loved all her babies so much. Lucia was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Temple.

Lucia is preceded in death by her parents, Mateo and Santos Villarreal; husband, Julian Somora Duran Sr.; brother, DoMingo Villarreal; sister, Valenta Villarreal; sister, DaMinga Ramirez; brother, Felix Villarreal; son, Johnny Duran; daughter, Yolanda Duran; son, Joe Duran; grandchildren, James A. Duran, Oswaldo Vasques, Michael L. Duran; and great grandchild, E’Lynn Amador.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her brother, Faustino Villarreal; daughters, Margie and James Gilmore of Temple, TX, Elizabeth Herzog-Armstrong of Manor, TX, Isabel and Ezekiel Enriquez, Maria and Dwain Hudkins of Temple, TX, Anna and Cliff Cain of Weirton, WV, and Melissa and Robert Youngblood of Henderson, TX; sons, Jimmy and Patsy Duran of Pflugerville, TX, Ricardo and Susie Duran of Oregon, Gabriel and Lindy Duran of Austin, TX, Juan Duran of Baytown, TX, Julian S. and Sue Duran Jr. of Sumter, SC, Christopher Michael and Cristina Duran Sr. of Temple, TX, and Michael Hannon; 40 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm with a rosary recited at 6 pm Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
