Joe Dan Harris, age 75 of Temple, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 2 pm Friday, May 22, 2020 in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple, 500 W. Barton Ave.
Joe was born on March 24, 1945 to Jodie and Ethel Harris in Temple, Texas. He graduated, through the first ever Special Education Program, at Temple High School. He was a very hard worker and had many interesting jobs throughout his life, such as working at Luby’s Restaurant, collecting soda water bottles and turning them in for recycling and reuse, and he also worked for the City of Bryan in the Sanitation Department. He was an avid collector and enjoyed collecting pop can tabs and keychains. He also loved to collect flags from all over. He was a simple and sweet man and his smile will be missed by so many that were touched by his life.
Joe is survived by his loving sister, Vaneta Johnson; nephew, Dennis Harmon and wife, Faith; nephew, Brad Harmon and wife, Lisa; nephew, Bret Meeh and wife, Vicky; great-nephew, Derek Meeh; great-nephew, Tucker Harmon; and great-niece, Sadie Harmon.
Memorials may be made to the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in Joe’s name to honor his memory.
A time of visitation will be held from 4 - 6 pm Thursday, May 21, 2020 in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel.
