Graveside services for Janet “Meme” Blankenstein, 88 of Temple, will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple. Mrs. Blankenstein passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Janet was born on October 24, 1931 to Sam and Mittie Mae Lewellen in Temple, Texas.  She graduated from Temple High School in 1949 and married the love her life, Harold C. Blankenstein in June 1949. She worked for Scott & White hospital and retired in 1998 after being a PBX operator for 21 years. She was a member of Western Hills Church of Christ. Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harold C. Blankenstein, twin sister Jane Willisa and brother Lynn Ray Lewellen.

Those left to carry on her legacy are her son, Sam C. Blankenstein and wife Kim; daughter, Kay Haynes and husband David; grandchildren, Kristy Barton and husband Jerrod, Andrew Haynes, Brook Esparza and husband Junior, Allison Russ and husband Brandon, Clayton Blankenstein and wife Morgan; and great-grandchildren, Braxton Haynes, Rawling Barton, Brynley Haynes and J.J. Esparza.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 8 at Harper Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, Texas.
