Erma Svajda

Erma Helen Marek Svajda, age 99 of Temple, Texas passed away Sunday, January 16, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Friday, January 21, 2022 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Burial will be in Cyclone Cemetery in Cyclone, Texas.

Erma was born August 18, 1922, to William and Christine Svoboda Marek in Temple, Texas. She married the love of her life Edward G. Svajda. She retired from E.R. Carpenter. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cyclone. She was a member of SPJST. She Loved to Dance at Alices Dance Hall in Seaton, Texas. She also loved to cook, bake, and garden.

Erma was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Levina Pechal; sister, Milady Coufal; sister, Wilma Motl; and brother, William Marek.

Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Wayne Svajda; daughter, Diane Svajda Herzog; granddaughters, Carrie Svajda, Connie Herzog, and Karen Herzog; grandsons, Russell Herzog, and Alan Svajda; 5 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Baylor Scott and White Hospice and the staff at Western Hills Nursing Home for the loving care they gave to Erma.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 6 pm Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the funeral home.
