"Downtown" Scott Brown

August 29, 1966 — October 29, 2019

Holland

“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39

On October 29, 2019, “Downtown” Scott Brown, 53, danced through the gates of heaven to live eternally with his best friend Jesus.  Scott had a deep connection with Jesus and prayed every morning and night.  He shared his love for Jesus with others and in so many ways tried to treat other human beings the way Jesus taught in the Bible.  Scott’s journey here on earth started on August 29, 1966, in Fort Worth, Texas. At age 18 Scott met his future wife, Melissa.  They fell fast and furious for each other.  They were soulmates and were married for 29 years and were best friends for 34 years.  Scott and Melissa would often write notes to each other and at the end of their love notes, they would sign, “Soul to Soul,” the title of a song from Scott’s favorite bluesman, Stevie Ray Vaughan.

Scott adored his three beloved children: Haley Rebecca, his sweet “Hay Hay,” Allison Sarah, his spunky “Pow Pow,” and Evan David, his courageous “Big Man.”  His treasured children nicknamed him “Viking” because he was a warrior who kept enduring despite, or in spite, of odds stacked against him.  Scott was most happy around his family.  He was a constant source of entertainment for his wife and children.  He always had a joke or a hilarious story to tell.  Scott danced like no one was watching and if he knew they were watching he really did not care. Scott lived life on his own terms, but he always had the teachings of Jesus in his heart.  He was fearless and faithful.  He was generous and gentle.  He was soft-hearted and sincere.  He was steadfast and solid.

Scott loved music, especially rock and roll and blues.  He was an unwavering Dallas Cowboys fan since he was a young boy.  He loved watching his son play for the Central Texas Christian School football team.  Evan will continue to honor his dad by wearing the number 72, his dad’s high school football jersey number.  Scott leaves us for a higher calling, but he will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife and children; father, Jerry Noel Brown; sister, Ruth Ann (Joe) Fiebig; stepfather, James Townsend; mother-in-law, Priscilla Williams; and father-in-law, Floyd Williams.  He will be remembered by his nephews Jason and Ethan, and niece Brentley.  He will be carried in the hearts of his Walker and Bennight cousins who loved him and will cherish fond memories of growing up together.  Scott had many, many friends.  He will especially be missed by Mickey Barton, of Midlothian, and Danny Karl, of Belton.  Scott was predeceased by his beautiful mother, Sandra Jane Townsend; grandmothers Ruth Ann Daniels and Clara Throckmorton Brown; and his most precious grandfather, Denzil Foster Brown, who was Scott’s hero.

Scott was a once in a lifetime kind of man.  He will always be in our hearts and forever on our minds.  Thank you, Scott, “for all the love you passed our way (SRV).”  See you soon – back left corner.  We love you, my sweetest friend.

“When he shall die,

Take him and cut him out in little stars,

And he will make the face of heaven so fine

That all the world will be in love with night

And pay no worship to the garish sun.”

William Shakespeare – Romeo and Juliet
