Cecilia Emma Stiens, age 96 of Temple, passed away Sunday, June 21, 2020 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm Thursday, June 25, 2020 in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple.
Cecilia was born on January 13, 1924 to Matthew Lewis and Sophie (Thompson) Hahn in Washington, MO. She married August Edward Stiens and together they lived life to the fullest. Her greatest joy came from caring for her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a huge heart and plenty of love and hugs for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always made time for her family and even opened her heart and home to many foster children throughout her younger years. She was a teacher of many things. Cecilia loved music and dancing. Her favorite singer was Frankie Laine. She danced with the Silver Bells and the Texas Tornados, competing in several senior dance competitions, and winning 1st place. For many years, she also enjoyed playing softball. She loved Christmas time and really liked decorating for the Christmas season. Everything she did, she did it with love. Cecilia was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Bob Gilmore Senior Center and was always so grateful for the memories and friendships made there.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her husband, August Edward Stiens; brother, Lester Hahn; sister, Mildred Hahn; sister, Mabel Lundstrum; and son, Robert Herbert Gamache.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her daughter, Sharon Ann Coffey and husband, Robert; granddaughter, Lorri Ann Griggs and husband, Ernest; granddaughter, Melissa Kay Schuster and husband, Joe; granddaughter, Trae Lynn Robbins and husband, David; grandson, Christopher Edward Coffey and wife, Cammie; 13 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at 1 pm with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2 pm on Thursday, June 25, 2020, prior to the service.
