Winston Marshall

Mr. Winston B. Marshall, 95, of Rogers, died Tuesday, November 4, 2008 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 7, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Davilla Cemetery.

Mr. Marshall was born to Rutherford Hayes Marshall and Georgia Anna Smith Marshall in Davilla, Texas on July 12, 1913. He had been a resident of Bell County most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He enlisted on January 25, 1937 at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and was discharged on February 12, 1946 at McCloskey General Hospital in Temple. He served at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin prior to the beginning of the war. He served in the European Theater and fought in the campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes and Rhineland. He was awarded the American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, Good Conduct Medal, and the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters. Prior to his retirement, he was engaged in farming and ranching near Rogers.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Marshall and James Marshall, both of Rogers; one daughter, Pauline Mendoza of Rogers; two sisters, Gladys Pugh of Indianapolis, Indiana and Edith Eilenburger of Lubbock; and five grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
