Wilma Flinn

August 16, 1914 — May 19, 2012

Wilma Elizabeth Flinn, 97, of Troy, passed away Saturday, May 19, 2012 in a Temple Nursing facility. A funeral service will be 1:00pm, Thursday, May 24, 2012 at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel, Temple, TX, with Chaplain Eric Hammer officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park, Temple, TX. A visitation will be from 5:007:00pm, Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the funeral home.

Wilma was born August 16, 1914 in Waxahachie, Texas, the daughter of the late Jonathan Walter Smith and Pruda Smithson Smith. On December 12, 1936, she married Marvin Lee Flinn he preceded her in death September 11, 1991. In her younger years, she enjoyed to sing and dance and has always had a love for gospel music. She was a member of the former Bottoms Baptist Church and later became a member of First Baptist Church in Troy, Texas. She served as a 4H leader in Oenaville. Wilma was an excellent gardener and seamstress. She was known for her canning, and her infamous kosher dill pickles. The grandkids always loved to go to Pawpaw and Grandmas house in the country. There was always something new and interesting going on. Wilma loved her Lord, had a strong personal faith and enduring spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents husband, Marvin son, Dennie Flinn, October 2004 sister, Zelma L. Zivley brothers, Willis, C.J., Lewis, Howard, Homer and Clyde Smith.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Darlene Bunte and husband Ernest of Troy, TX sister, Annie L. Hines of Temple brother Billy Lawrence Smith of Waco 4 granddaughters, Cheryl Wolf Andrea Durbin and husband Stanley Durinda Taylor Robin Maddux and husband John 13 great grandchildren, Kalyn, Josh, Mariah, Madison, Alyssa, Marshall, Hannah S., Katie, Olivia, Hayden, Jeff, Shelby, Hannah D. several nieces, nephews and a host of dear friends.

Arrangements are under the direction of HarperTalasek Funeral Home, Temple, Texas.

Memorials may be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 1616 Azalea Drive, Suite 101, Temple, TX, 76502 or a charity of your choice.
