Funeral services for Wilma Bartek Bane, 97, of Cameron will be held Saturday December 16, 2017 at 2 PM at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple, 500 W. Barton Ave. Temple, TX 76501 With Pastor Brad Herridge officiating. There will be a time of visitation from 1 to 2 PM.
Wilma was born on August 28, 1920 to Will and Bertha Simek in Temple. She spent all of her life living in the Temple area. She attended Seaton schools. She grew up a tomboy who loved to spend time with her father. Wilma had many different factory jobs as a young lady including working in a bomb factory in McGregor during World War II. She also loved to attend the dances at the halls in area. Wilma loved to fish with friends and family when ever she could. Granny enjoyed playing bingo, the lotto, playing the accordion and eating fried chicken. Over the later years of her life Wilma kept a close relationship with her siblings. Granny will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Wilma is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Bane; her parents; siblings, Bill Simek, Jeanette Smith, Bertha Hines, Alford Simek, Victor Simek, and Leroy Simek.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory are, her son, Raymond W. Bartek Sr. and wife Diann Bartek of Miles, TX; sister, Vlasta Machalicek of Waco; grandson, Raymond W. "Skip" Bartek Jr. of Kyle, TX; granddaughter, Amy Bynaum of Cameron, TX; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
