Memorial services are planned for Willie Mae Gross, 87, of Troy, Texas at 4:00 pm April 24, 2015 at Troy United Methodist Church with Reverend Leslie Byrd officiating.
Mrs. Gross died Wednesday, April 1, at a local care facility.
She was born June 29, 1927 in Bottoms, Texas to James Vannoy and Willie Pearl Burns. She graduated from Troy High School and attended Waco Secretarial College. She was married to John Gross for 16 years and was a retired secretary. Mrs. Gross was a member of Troy United Methodist Church, the Troy United Methodist Quilters, American Legion, and the Senior Trojans. She served as an Election Judge and was a proud Democrat. She loved her family and was very proud that the family farm had been recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture as a 100 Year Family Heritage Farm.
Mrs. Gross was preceded in death by her husband, John Gross; sons, Gary Kelley and Jamie Kelley; and brothers, Thomas "T.A." Burns, Samuel "Ellis" Burns, Aaron Burns, and James Burns.
She is survived by a son, Randle Kelley and wife Barbara; daughters, Linda Robinson, Donna Kelley, Laura Aguillon and husband Santiago, Jr., and Anna Young and husband Harry; sister, Mary Gilstrap; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
