Willie C. "Sonny" Arnold

Willie C. "Sonny" Arnold, age 90 of Temple, passed from this life Monday, October 23, 2023, at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas. A final farewell will be held at Pendleton Cemetery, where a Graveside Service will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 10 am.

Sonny was born on April 13, 1934, in Bell County, Texas to his parents, the late Clay & Martha (Mangan) Arnold. Sonny was a hardworking individual who dedicated many years of his life to working at Carpenter Co. Manufacturing in Temple. Sonny had a special place in his heart for his nieces and nephews, cherishing every moment spent with them. He also held a deep love for his church and admired the teachings of his preacher. Some of his favorite pastimes were eating at Golden Corral with family and friends and enjoying visiting at Bill's Coffee House. Sonny found joy in the companionship of his dogs, Bill and Lilie Bell. He also enjoyed watching his "Cowboys & Indians," and the Dallas Cowboys play. Having served as a Veteran of the United States Army, Sonny demonstrated unwavering dedication to his country. His commitment to serving others and protecting the values he held dear will always be remembered.

Sonny is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Ophelia Gertie (Murrow) Arnold; daughter, Nelda Ann (Arnold) Collins; brother, Thomas Douglas; sisters, Mary Ann Renick, and Lillian Scott; and grandson, Joe Jr.

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Kay Arnold.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society, the ASPCA, or a dog rescue program of your choice.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, and the hospice staff and nurses that helped during this difficult time, as well as his brother-in-law, Wilburn and his beloved nieces.

A time of visitation will be held from 5-7 pm Friday, November 3, 2023, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
