Walter D. Dub Wright
Walter D. Dub Wright, 92, of Temple, passed away Tuesday, September 11, 2007 in a local nursing home. A memorial service will be Friday, September 14, 11:00 a.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple with Rev. Clyde Nichols and Rev Dr Jerry Kirkpatrick officiating.
Dub was born in Mexia, to Thomas E. and Josie Steele Wright on November 10, 1914. He married his loving wife, Hazel M. Litten Wright in McKinney, Texas in 1935. They moved to Temple in 1940. He owned and operated Wrights Food Store in Temple for many years before retiring. Dub was a member of the Temple School Board in the 1950s. He was also a member of the Bell County Retail Grocers Association, Temple Lions Club and the First Christian Church. Dub was a family man who enjoyed sports, fishing, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Walter was a simple man that loved his family and friends and will be missed by all.
Dub is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his wife, Hazel; sons, Tommy Wright and wife Linda of San Antonio and Michael D. Wright and wife, Joan of Salado; 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Vista Care Hospice of Temple or The First Christian Church
