Virginia ‘Ginny' Simpson
Services for Virginia Lou "Ginny" Simpson, 66, of Temple will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Belton First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Simpson died Monday, Aug. 17, at a Temple hospital. The body was cremated.
She was born May 2, 1949, to Virgil and Phyllis Johnson in Willmar, Minn. She married David Shauf on May 15, 1970 in Kansas City, Mo. She was a flight attendant for TWA. She graduated magna cum laude from Texas Woman's University with a degree in journalism. On Nov. 21, 1992, she married George Simpson in Gainesville. She worked as a reporter for the Gainesville Register and the Temple Daily Telegram, and in public relations for North Central Texas College and several chambers of commerce.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Heather Smith of Fair Haven, Minn.; a stepdaughter, Caley Simpson Cooper of Lubbock; a brother, Tom Johnson; two sisters, Nancy Johnson and Linda Jamison; and two grandchildren.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
