Virginia Ann McCarthy was received by the Lord on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

She was born March 8, 1936 in Tyler, Texas to Pearl and Franklin Orval Clark. She and her husband Paul formerly lived in Sweetwater, Texas for 31 years and were members of Trinity Baptist Church before moving to Temple in 2014. She had a long career in the insurance industry, volunteered with the American Red Cross for 23 years, and was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star.

She is survived by her husband, E. Paul McCarthy of 41 years; sister Frankie Clark of Cleburne, Texas; son Micky Pohlmeyer of Houston, Texas; stepdaughter Catherine McCarthy-Lynch of Billings, Montana; stepson Michael Fullarton of Richmond, Texas; stepdaughter Constance McCarthy-Rutter of Tehachapi, California; stepdaughter Carol McCarthy of Nacogdoches, Texas; stepson Matthew McCarthy of Clarksdale, Arizona; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sister Betty McDaniel, and great-grandson Eli Peña.

Services will be held at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple on Wednesday, September 12, at 9:00 am. VA Pavilion Services will be held at Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery at 11:00 am in Killeen.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple, the American Red Cross, St. Jude's Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice in her honor.
