Vertis Mesecke

Vertis Marie Mesecke, age 93 of Temple, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021, at a local care facility. Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, December 16, 2021, at St. Luke’s Catholic Church of Temple. Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park and Cemetery.

Vertis was born on August 15, 1928, in San Angelo, Texas to Andrew G. and Mary E. (Ludwig) Braden. She married Leslie Mesecke on June 28, 1955. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Temple and was a homemaker and mother.

Vertis was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Mary Braden; husband, Leslie Mesecke; brothers, Melvin (Lorene) Braden, Onifer (Shirley) Braden, Elmer Braden, Milton (Irene) Braden, Earl Braden, Forest Braden, and Clifton (Gladys) Braden.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her son, Dewayne Mesecke and wife, Nancy of Burlington; daughter, Janice Brown of Temple; daughter, Lisa Mesecke of Temple; daughter, Peggy Wagman and husband, Joseph of Round Rock; grandchildren, Ian Wagman and wife, Molly of Frisco, Melissa Mesecke of Temple, Matthew Mesecke of Temple, Megan Henderson and husband, Tim of Richmond, Garrett Brown of Temple, and Allison Williamson and husband, Taylor of Waukee, Iowa; great grandson, Tucker Henderson; sister-in-law, Alfrieda Braden of Wall; sister-in-law, Ann Mesecke of Fairview; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A time of visitation will be held from 6-8 pm with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
