Graveside services for Verdeen H. "Louie" Sindt, 96, of Temple will be 3 p.m. Friday, March 2 at Greathouse Cemetery in Temple with Judy Gotcher officiating.
Mr. Sindt passed away Monday, February 26 at his home in Temple.
Verdeen H. Sindt was born November 7, 1921 in Sioux City, Iowa to Otto and Marie Sindt. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, a Good Conduct Ribbon, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, a Laurel wreath for meritorious service unit plaque, the World War II Victory Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, four Overseas Service Bars, and the Sixth Army Shoulder Patch. He married Mary Rael Sindt in 1952, and she preceded him in death. Louie worked for the Sioux Honey Association for 45 years until his retirement at the age of 85. He then worked for Sammons Golf Course in Temple for 15 years.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, and a son, Stephen Sindt.
He is survived by daughter, Mary Lou Quinn and husband Jerry, son John Sindt, and daughter Jo Ann Mullins and husband Jerry; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and twelve great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, March 1, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McClain's Children's Hospital in Temple.
