Twynette Wilson Wright, a native of Temple, Texas, transitioned from this life to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, June 13, 2019. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Friday, June 21, 2019 in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel, located at 500 W. Barton Ave.
Twynette was the sixth of eight children born to John Bernard “J.B.” and Georgia Wilson. She was a Dunbar-Meredith alumni student and a Temple High School graduate, Class of 1971. She served honorably in the United States Army. Twynette was united in marriage to the love of her life, Benjamin Franklin Wright, on November 28, 1983. Two wonderful sons were born of this union – Brandon Franklin Wright and Derron Benjamin Wright. She was employed by the Department of Veteran Affairs Healthcare System, retiring after 22 years of dedicated service. After retiring from the Department of the VA, she worked for both Belton and Temple Independent School Districts; retiring a second time after 15 years of dedicated service. She co-owned the Wright Place Catering service with her husband, for which they were well-known in the Temple and Rockdale areas. The Wright Place managed and operated local concession stands for the City of Temple’s Park and Recreations department.
Twynette dedicated her life to Christ in 1977, and was strong in her faith. She served faithfully in the Body of Christ sharing her cooking and hospitality gift, along with singing with the Ministering Choir, and Praise and Worship Team. She received her Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies and Theology from The Institute for Teaching God’s Word Theological Seminary in Rockdale Texas.
Twynette was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. She loved life, her family, singing, traveling, and shopping. She enjoyed helping and serving others, taking care of family members, and encouraging the youth. Twynette was an avid sports fan who loved following her Temple Wildcats everywhere they played.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bernard Wilson and Udell Wilson; one sister, Barbara “Babby” Wilson; and son, Timothy Brockington.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Ben; sons, Brandon Wright (Grace) of Temple, Derron Wright of Temple, and Benjamin Wright Jr. (Eva Torres) of Temple; daughters, Sheila Ornick (Londell) of Pflugerville, Tammie Monroe (Kenneth) of Austin, Catandra Carr of Temple; twelve grandchildren, Chelsye, Laila, Kevin, Kennedy, Brianna, Jeffrey Jr., De’avonte, Jason, Beniamino, Belisama, Beneditka, and Benjamen; one great-grandchild, Kenzie; sisters, Martha Nan Smith and Cherry McBride (Gregory Sr.) of Temple, Teresa Mitchell (Gregory) of Fort Worth, Percy “Cookie” Wilson of Lewisville; one brother, Elder John Wilson (Annette) of Temple, mother-in-law, Berdia Jones; special aunt, Thelma Tisdale; her beloved nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A time of visitation will be held from 6 – 8 pm, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the funeral home.
