Services for Tomasa Guana Quinteros, 96, will be 12 noon on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow at Quinteros Cemetery in Temple.
Tomasa, the oldest child of Fernando and Demetria Guana, passed away Wednesday evening, June 3. She was born March 7, 1919 in Cameron, Texas. On December 29, 1962, she married Francisco Quinteros in Lubbock and moved to Temple where she remained the rest of her life.
Tomasa, or "grandma" to most, touched many lives throughout her life. She married into a large family, and she helped mold many children's lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; stepsons Simon Sr., and Jesus Quinteros; step daughter Andrea Garcia; brothers Vicente and Fred Guana; and sisters Nancy Cuellar, Loisa Lara and Linda Gonzales.
Survivors include her stepchildren Frank Quinteros, Bennie and Pauline Quinteros, Jose and Irma Quinteros, all of Temple, Nick and Anna Hernandez of Troy, Mary Muriel of El Paso, and Mary Francis Tallouzi of Albuquerque. Grandchildren she raised include Jack (Dora) Soto of Marlin, Ralph (Sandra) Quinteros of Fairfield, Ca., Margaret (Paul) Ramirez of Troy, Tony (Lety) Quinteros of San Diego, Ca., and Simon (Knellen) Quinteros of Brenham, Tx.
Also surviving are brothers Johnny Guana of Houston, Morris Guana of Lubbock and sisters Irene Perez and Jesusa Losaya from Lubbock. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ralph, Tony, Simon, and Carlos Quinteros, Paul Ramirez and Arthur Donoso.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, June 5 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Recitation of Rosary will be at 7 p.m.
