Graveside services with military honors for Thomas Olivarri, 72 of Cameron, will be noon on Thursday, February 22, at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Temple with
Pastor Rick Reed officiating.
Mr. Olivarri passed away Friday, February 16 in Temple.
Thomas Olivarri was born March 27, 1945 in Cameron, Texas to Emilio Olivarri and Arora Bernal-Olivarri. After graduation from C.H. Yoe High School in Cameron, he enlisted
in the U.S. Army, serving in Law Enforcement and attaining the rank of Sargent. Upon leaving military service, he worked with the Special Forces Narcotics Division of NEA until
his retirement in 2010. He was a black belt, studied the art of Jujitsu, weapons and taught hand to hand combat. Thomas collected weapons and enjoyed fishing and classic cars.
Mr. Olivarri was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lupe Acosta; and two brothers, Emilio Olivarri, Jr. and Frank Olivarri.
He is survived by his girlfriend, Elaine Patterson; his son, Tommy Olivarri, Jr.; a daughter, Candy Olivarri; two brothers, Willie Olivarri and Tony Olivarri; two sisters, Liz De Lao
and Maryann Jones; and three grandchildren, Brandon Olivarri, Alyssa Olivarri, and Trinity Olivarri.
Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 21 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Thomas Olivarri's' name may be made to VFW Post #1820 in Temple to benefit Disabled Temple Veterans.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
