Thomas Vance Maxfield, 57, of Troy passed away Friday, January 25. He was born January 25, 1951 to Vernon and Emma Alberta Brasher Maxfield in Crittenden, Kentucky. He married Mary Salazar on November 5, 1977. He was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed fishing, raising goats and all the outdoors; but he mostly enjoyed being with his family.
Thomas proudly served his country and retired with an honorable discharge from the US Army after more than 20 years of service. He was a member of the DAV. He was the recipient of the following awards: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal w1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Achievement Medal w3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal 5TH Award, Vietnam Service Medal w2 Bronze Service Stars, NCO Professional Development Ribbon Numeral 2, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon Numeral 4, Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert Badge Pistol, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation Badge wPalm and National Defense Service Medal wService Star. He was currently working as a Maintenance Supervisor with the Temple 4C.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Louis Maxfield and sister, Pamela Kay Maxfield.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Louise Salazar Maxfield; sons, Bradley Driver of Marion, KY and Vance Thomas Maxfield and wife, Michelle of Troy; sisters, Joyce Troutvetter of Evansville, Indiana, Myra Louise Watson of Marion, Kentucky and Doris Rushing of Fredonia, Kentucky; brothers, Joe Maxfield of Plesanton, Kansas, Jim Maxfield of Marion, Kentucky and Dennis Maxfield of Nashville, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Morgan Driver, Preston Driver, Andrew Vance Maxfield, Aden Tyler Maxfield and Makenzie Leigh Maxfield.
Services were held Monday at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be at Owens Cemetery in Marion, Kentucky.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple in charge of arrangements.
