Services for Thomas Harold Hobday, 84, of Temple, will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014, at HarperTalasek Funeral Home in Temple, with burial to follow in Oenaville Cemetery in Oenaville, Texas.
Mr. Hobday passed away on Friday, August 29, at his residence with his wife and daughter at his side. Tom was born September 3, 1929, in Oenaville to Homer Dillard and Lillian Edith Ligon Hobday. He married Mary Lou Taylor on May 20, 1949. He attended Troy High School and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1946 to 1948, stationed in San Diego, California. Tom was a barber by trade and owned and operated Toms Barber Shop in Belton, Texas for approximately 32 years prior to retiring. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary, his daughter Deborah Miller of Centerville sisters Mary Miller and Patsy Steinert, and brother Jack Hobday, all of Temple two grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 10:00 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6, at the funeral home.
The family suggests that donations in Toms name be made to Scott and White Hospice, 2401 S. 31st Street, Temple, Texas 76508.
