Stanley Alvin Lorig, Sr., 83, of Temple, passed away September 21, 2007 at his residence. A memorial service will be held October 2, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Pastor Wayne Matthews will officiate.
Stanley was born July 30, 1924 in Washington, D.C. to Alvin and Frances Lorig. He was a World War II Veteran serving his county in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 to 1945. Stanley came to Temple in 1962. He was a stone mason and bricklayer for several construction companies in Bell County. Stanley was married to his first wife, Alice May Daniel, until her death in 1995. Stanley was a very friendly and outgoing person. Whenever you saw Stanley running errands in town you would almost always see him with his sidekick and faithful companion, Barney the Basset Hound. In his spare time Stanley loved woodworking and to fish. He also enjoyed ballroom dancing. Stanley was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Temple. Stanley is preceded in death by first wife, his parents, brothers and sisters.
Stanley leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Barbara Lorig of Temple; sons, Daniel Lorig of New Braunfels and Stanley Lorig, Jr. of Oklahoma City; daughter, Gail Hunnicutt of Alice. He also leaves behind six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or First United Methodist Church of Temple.
