Mrs. Retana passed from this life on Sunday, July 15, 2018, at a local hospital. Socorro was born on March 30, 1948 to Jose Sr. and Claudia Fuentes in Bremond, TX.
Socorro was born and raised in Bremond. After getting married she moved to Temple to start a family of her own with her beloved husband, Jesse Retana, Sr. She was a woman of great faith and was dedicated to her Lord and her church. Socorro was a long-time member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She worked as a teacher's aide at the school, was a member of the Altar Society, and volunteered where ever else she could at the church. She was a talented seamstress and was always sewing dresses and many other things for her family and friends. Socorro was a wonderful cook and always prepared big family meals for any occasion. Mrs. Retana loved to garden and watch her plants and flowers grow. She enjoyed playing games like dominoes and bingo with friends and family. She loved music and dancing. Just a few days prior to her passing, Socorro and Jesse had their last dance. She was a homemaker at heart. Socorro provided a warm and loving home for the family she was so proud of. Most of all she was a wife, mother, and grandmother. It was clear that family was her greatest treasure in life. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
