Sisto P. Salinas, Sr., 77 of Slaton, and formerly of Pendleton, passed away Thursday, March 18 in a Temple hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00am Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Ramiro officiating. Burial will follow in Pendleton Cemetery.
Sisto P. Salinas, Sr. was born April 6, 1932 to Manuel Salinas, Sr. and Andrea Perez Salinas in Cuero, Texas. On October 11, 1952, he married Janie Sierra in Victoria, Texas. He worked as a mechanic for Farmers Cooperative in Lubbock, Texas for 30 years. He also worked at Fletchers in Temple from 19621980. He moved from Temple to Slaton, Texas in 1980. Mr. Salinas was a Catholic. He attended church in Victoria, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Manuel Jr., Martin, and Ray, sister, Amada, and grandson, Freddie Salinas, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Janie Salinas, sons Sisto Salinas, Jr., Freddie Salinas, Sr., Steven Salinas, and Tony Salinas all of Troy, daughters Irean Salinas of Austin, Rosa Mungia, Angie Luna, and Lydia Salinas, all of Temple, brothers Domingo Salinas of Belton, and Felix Salinas of Corpus Christi, sisters Catherina Sierra of Victoria, Estella Sierra of Marble Falls, Pat Huerta of Goldthwaite, Josie Vargas of Austin, and Juana Salinas of Wichita Falls, 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and friend Delois Jones.
Visitation will be 49pm Sunday. Preservice will be 4:00pm and Rosary will be recited 7:00pm at HarperTalasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple.
