Services for Silvestre Davila Lopez, 79, of Temple will be at 10:00 am on Thursday, March 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Steve Saucer officiating. Burial will be following at Hillcrest Cemetery.
Silvestre Davila Lopez died on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Scott & White Hospital.
Silvestre Davila Lopez was born on April 6, 1937 to Pedro Lopez and Juanita Davila. He was known as "PoPo" to his family. Silvestre was a hardworking man. He worked for 25 years on the John Brigman Farm. He also worked for Material Transportation Corporation. He taught his family that you have to work hard to get somewhere in life. He was always encouraging and aspiring his family to live their dreams. His hobbies included dancing, barbequing, fishing, and deer hunting. He had a passion for serving his family and community. He was a leader and showed his family how to be a provider. PoPo will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pedro Lopez, Juanita Davila Lopez; Son, Jose Luis Hernandez; daughter, Teresa De Jesus Lopez, two sisters, Angela Ruiz, Maria Lopez and a brother, Timoteo Lopez.
Survivors include wife of 33 years, Josefina Blanco Lopez; three sons, Albert Moreno and his wife JoAnn, Jesus Lopez, Pedro Lopez and wife Martha Lopez; four daughters, Cynthia Meza and her husband Daniel Meza Sr, Nora Sierra, Maria Cristina Garcia and her husband Gerardo Garcia, Kelly Rinhart; sister, Isabelle Garcia, along with twenty-five grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 7:00 pm with rosary at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 22, at the funeral home.
Arrangements are in the care of Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
