Services for Shirlyene Edna Huntley, 77, will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 5, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor David Whitley officiating. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.
Mrs. Huntley died Saturday, October 29, 2016, at her home in Temple.
Shirlyene Edna Huntley, nee Schiller, was born June 26, 1939 in Temple to Frank B. and Edna Krahulik Schiller. She graduated from Rogers High School in 1957; from Temple Junior College with an Associate Degree in Administration; and from The American Technological Institute with a degree in Computer Programming. Shirlyene accepted a position in the business office of Central Counties MHMR where she worked for over 20 years, retiring to accompany her husband who accepted a position with the US Army in Germany as a Counseling Psychologist.
Shirlyene married Darrold J. Huntley in Temple on January 10, 1959 and the couple had three children, including a daughter who was stillborn in Germany in 1960. Shirlyene was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church in Harker Heights. She was a faithful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs. Huntley was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Juanita Huntley; and a brother, Valerian Schiller.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Darrold J. Huntley; a son, Darrold J. Huntley, Jr.; a daughter, Janell Kelly; two grandchildren, Amanda Sustaida and Alan Kelly; two great-grandchildren, Daehn and Sofia Susaida; a sister, Caroline Nesbitt; and two brothers, Frankie and Reuben Schiller.
Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 4, at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank everyone, friends, relatives and the health professionals who took care of Shirlyene during this trying time in her life; we thank them for their acts of kindness and especially for their faithfulness and their prayers.
Shirlyene Huntley was a complete Christian lady through and through. She did not think like a man, she did not talk like a man, she did not walk like a man, and she did not dress like a man, she was a complete Christian lady!
