Scott Winston Kelly, Sr., age 46 of Little River, passed from this life Monday, June 17, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 pm Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Little River’s Freedom Road Fellowship.
Scott was born on March 17, 1978, in Nocona, Texas, and adopted by parents, Richard Lewis and Pam Kelly. He was a man of many interests. He started with woodworking during his time at the Hill Country Youth Ranch and that spilled over to working with his dad in his woodshop. In his younger years at the youth ranch, he loved hiking and exploring caves.
As he grew older, he loved working on vehicles. He made many memories with friends and his son, under the hood of a vehicle. This also included being an avid motorcyclist when his health allowed.
His biggest love was cooking. Even at a young age, he was in the kitchen. His love language was cooking. If he cooked for you, he loved you. He had a few specialties. His Bar-B-Q, sweet and sour meatballs, and cheesecake. He could cook something out of nothing, and he never cooked anything bad. That love for cooking led to having a successful BBQ truck and hot dog cart, but due to his health, he had a hard time keeping up.
He also loved to travel. That led into a hot shot business. So many memories were made as a family on the road. Almost all the lower 48 states were covered with the travels. Fishing was a big part of his life. He would fish anywhere and everywhere. He would often stop to fish while on the road. Fishing in the Pacific and Atlantic oceans were the top places for him.
His biggest love though was spending time with his family and friends. He was a family man at heart.
Scott is preceded by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Nancianne Kelly; son, Scott Kelly, Jr., and wife, Sabryna; brother, Kory Kelly; sisters, Betsy Lewis, and Sara Schmidt and husband, Kent; and grandson, Gunner.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Hill Country Youth Ranch in Ingram, Texas.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to all of the Baylor Scott & White STICU team, and anyone that was a part of Scott’s care, and to his many friends and family that have offered their support and prayers during this time.
In honor of Scott, the family requests that no black be worn to his services. Instead, please wear his favorite color, orange, in his memory.
