Ruth Butler

Mrs. Ruth Jane Butler, 74, of Temple, died Thursday, June 19, 2008 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 23, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. Harlan Haines officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

Mrs. Butler was born to Joseph William Hejl and Frances Ondrasek Hejl in Temple on April 27, 1934. She was a lifelong resident of Bell County. Prior to her retirement in 1993, she was employed with the Temple Veterans Administration hospital for 25 years. She had also worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service. She married Paul Butler in Temple on August 11, 1961. Mrs. Butler was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Temple.

Survivors include her husband, Paul Butler of Temple; two sons, Steve Lane of Troy and Mark Butler of Atlanta, Georgia; one daughter, Patti Branscum of Temple; one brother, Edward Hejl of El Paso; four sisters, Frances McNeil of Buckholts, Martha Dubcak of Zabcikville, Georgia Ellis of Troy, and Virginia McHan of Temple; five grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be Sunday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
