Ruben Gutierrez

Ruben Gutierrez passed away on Sunday, October 23, 2011, in Tucson, AZ. He was 62 years old.
He was born in Beeville, TX, on November 2, 1948, to Anita and Domingo Gutierrez. He lived and worked in Temple, TX, until June of 2009. For medical reasons, he relocated to Tucson, Arizona, where he lived until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Frank Gutierrez, Sr., and Daniel Lara, and a sister, Salome Gutierrez. He is survived by six brothers Robert Silvas Gutierrez, Benito Silvas Gutierrez, Tony Silvas Gutierrez, Domingo Silvas Gutierrez, Sr., Sammy Silvas Gutierrez, and Demetrio Silvas Gutierrez, and two sisters Linda Silvas Gutierrez and Sulema Gutierrez Salinas.
He fathered six children Delia Trevino, Melissa Kay Bonney, Angela Marie Garcia, Victoria Lindsey Gutierrez, Karen Sue Gutierrez, all of Temple, and Ruben Gutierrez, II, of Corpus Christi, Texas. There are seventeen grandchildren, with an additional granddaughter due February of 2012.
As of October 2011, Ruben had 19 years sobriety, and of this achievement he was quite proud. In his honor, the Serenity Prayer follows:

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change

Enjoying one moment at a time
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace
Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is,
