Roy Barnes

Roy Clayton Barnes, 87 of Temple, passed away Wednesday, October 28, 2009 in a local hospital. Graveside services will be 10:00am Saturday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple with Rev. Roy Parker officiating.

Mr. Barnes was born May 21, 1922 to Dolph and Eula Leutweyler Barnes in Cameron, Texas. On April 21, 1945, he married Thelma Kemp in Waco, Texas. Roy Barnes proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He worked for Dickies Manufacturing Company for over 30 years. He was a resident of Temple, moving here from Waco 40 years ago. He was a Baptist.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Thelma Barnes in 2009, and a son, Douglas Barnes in 2004.

Survivors include: daughter, Janice Young and husband Ira of South Padre, Texas, 2 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
