Services for Rosemary Tucker Nichols, 86, of Temple will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Reverend Billy Koinm officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood cemetery.
Mrs. Nichols passed to eternal life on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at a local hospital
Rosemary was born February 5, 1930 in Lott, Texas to Albert Richard Tucker and Era Arnold Tucker. She met the love of her life in 1946 and married Gus Nichols, Jr. in 1950. Rosemary worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years until she retired in 1990.
Rosemary was active in many different community organizations and the Heights Baptist Church. She was a longtime active member of the Does Temple Drove 139, Temple Elks Lodge #138. She also enjoyed her volunteer work with the National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees, the Temple Police Department's Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, and the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT). Rosemary was an avid Bridge player and partner who played up until her untimely passing.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her father, Albert Richard Tucker; mother, Era Arnold Tucker; and sister, Allene Hopkins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Gus Nichols Jr.; daughter, Shari Nichols of Austin; son, Terry Nichols and his wife Nicola Nichols of Brownwood; granddaughter, Kaitlin Nichols of San Marcos; and grandson, Alex Nichols of San Marcos.
Visitation will be held from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, December 8 at the funeral home.
