Ronald (Ron) Evan Gibson passed away peacefully early on September 1, 2025, after over 98 and half years.

Born in Lagrange, Texas on February 5, 1927, he spent his early childhood in Rockdale, Texas then moved with his family to Devers in southeast Texas and then to Anahuac where he graduated from Anahuac High School in 1945. His mother served 42 years as the Chambers County Treasurer while raising sons Calvert, Leroy, William Otis (WO), Ron, and younger sister Analene - all of whom have preceded him in death. As soon as he was of age, he joined the army at the tail end of WWII and participated in the door-to-door occupation and disarming of German citizens in the US Zone of Berlin. Following his service, he attended the University of North Texas earning a BS Degree in Business and meeting his first wife Mary Fox of Breckenridge, Texas with who he shared three children. After working in the oil field then insurance business Ron found his calling and took to sea, working as a deckhand on an oil field supply boat then on an Exxon oil tanker where he excelled and rose through the ranks to finally retire as a Second Officer. His retirement years were spent in Kerrville, Texas then later in Whitney, Texas, with wife of 25 years Joyce Lee Ming of Belton, Texas (d. 2006).

Ron is preceded in death by his first daughter Marsha (d. 2001) and survived by his daughter Connie Barr (nee Hubbard and Gibson) of Weimar, Texas and son David in Lockhart, Texas - both formerly of Houston, and half-sister Joyce Roland Malatek (nee Gibson) of Llano. He was given the title “Ron- Ron” by his first grandchild Sara LeTourneau (nee Hubbard) and was affectionately known as such by other grandchildren Hannah Herzik (nee Hubbard), Leah Gibson, and Danny Gibson. Great grandchildren include David, Axel, Miles, Lincoln, Noah, Ruger, Gideon, and Brooke LeTourneau, Josephine and Angeline Hedrick (Gibson), Luca Gibson, Hank and Heidi Herzik, and Kyla Barr. Step family from Joyce Ming include her children Gail Smith, Denise Garrett, Joni Guthrie, and Shelly Clark with grandchildren Trent Garrison, Ray Garrison, and Beau Rodriguez, Brian, Charlie, and Rachel Clark, Josh and Shannon Guthrie (d. 2019), great grandchildren Cole, Heather, and Brooke Garrison, Morgan, Lauren, and Maddie Garrison, Hayden Lawrence and Jamison Pemble, Ezra and Zeke Guthrie, and at last great great grandchild Eleanor Garrison.
