Mr. Robert Karl Pekar, 66, of Temple, died in a Temple hospital Monday, November 30, 2009.

Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple with Father Ranjan Cletus officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.

Mr. Pekar was born to Charlie Joe Pekar and Frances Ann Zak Pekar in Taylor on July 17, 1943. He had been a resident of Temple since 1962. He married Carlette Mokry in Granger on January 1, 1966. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and held membership in V.F.W. Post 1820, D.A.V. and the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Prior to his retire-ment, he was employed as a crew leader at Wilson Art in Temple. He was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Temple.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Ann Sumners of Belton and Lois Ann Tippit of Gatesville; one son, Kenneth Bobo of Walnut Hill, Florida; two brothers, Bart Pekar of Temple and Johnnie Pekar of California; eight sisters, Helen Malcik of Red Ranger, Georgie Dubcak of League City, and Alice Welborn, Frances Polasek, Matylda Klepac, Shirley Hutka, Mary Martinez and Susie Strakos, all of Temple; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Albert Pekar; and three sisters, Janie Klepac, Hattie Volek and Carolyn Redford.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.

Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
