Robert Matre

Robert Dean Bob Van Matre, 60, of Temple, died Sunday, February 24, 2008 in a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple with Dr. Trey Turner officiating.

Mr. Van Matre was born to Helon Isaac Van Matre and Amelia Cobb Mitchell Van Matre in Corpus Christi on January 5, 1948. He had been a resident of Bell County since 1976. He formerly served as Music Minister at First Baptist Church of Academy and Heights Baptist Church in Temple. He was a member of Canyon Creek Baptist Church in Temple.

Survivors include two sons, Jonathan Dean Van Matre and Reagan Kyle Van Matre, both of Austin; former wife, Jenelle Van Matre of Temple; one sister, Ann McCutchen and husband, Dick of Sheffield, Alabama; and one sister-in-law, Deanna Van Matre of La Porte. He was preceded in death by his parents, twin sister, Barbara Van Matre and brother, James V. Van Matre.

The family would especially like to thank Canyon Creek Baptist Church, Dr. Allan Nickel and the Scott White Dialysis Center, and many other dear friends for their loving care of Mr. Van Matre, as well as the Scott and White ICU for their compassion in his last moments.
