Robert Odell Haddock, 94, of Temple, died Sunday, March 23, 2008 at a local nursing home. Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home.
Mr. Haddock was born on November 28, 1913 in Speegleville, Texas. He was the son of the late Jacob Riley Haddock and Fannie Kirkland Haddock. He attended schools at Bruceville and Beulah. He farmed for over 40 years before retiring in 1977, at which time he and his wife moved to Temple where he worked for the laundry department of Scott White Hospital for 10 years.
He married Lois Stewart on November 27, 1937. They were members of Hubbard Primitive Baptist Church in Hubbard. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Haddock; six brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by son, Robert L. Haddock of Temple; daughter, Shirley Woodard and husband, Kenneth of Victoria; two granddaughters, Sylvia Ekdahl and husband, Wayne of Stamford, Kenda Matson and husband, Charles of Victoria; four great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to Lighthouse Hospice, 2913 Williams Drive, suite 320, Georgetown, Texas 78628.
