Services for Robert F. Cardenas, Sr., 76, of Temple, will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 14, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with the Reverend Darrel Biggs officiating. Burial will follow in North Belton Cemetery.
Mr. Cardenas passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at a local hospital.
Robert F. Cardenas, Sr. was born March 27, 1940 in Tanglewood, Texas to Zaragosa Cardenas and Dolores Flores Cardenas. He was a resident of Temple for over 20 years, having moved here from Anaheim, California. He worked in the paving industry for many years prior to his retirement. Mr. Cardenas was a member of First Christian Church and was a strong man of Faith. Robert loved to go fishing, listening to Spanish music and cooking. Helping people in need was something Robert never shied away from, he was always there no matter if they were family, friends or strangers. Mr. Cardenas' greatest joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Cardenas was preceded in death by his parents, Zaragosa and Dolores Cardenas; a son, Fidel Cardenas; and a daughter, Dolores Delgado.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Cardenas, Jr., Richard Cardenas, and Ruben Cardenas; three daughters, Mary Mendez, Gloria Cason, and Theresa Cardenas; several brothers and sisters; twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 - 8 p.m. Monday, February 13, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple.
