Memorial services for Richard Overholt Markle, 75, of Temple, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, at Temple Bible Church with Chase Bowers officiating.
Mr. Markle went to be with the Lord on Wednesday October 14, 2015. He was born March 10, 1940 to Franklin S. Markle, Sr. and Fern L. Traber Markle in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Bellaire High School and attended the University of Houston. Before college he served in the United States Coast Guard for four years and then served an additional two years as a reservist. He was a member of Cypress Masonic Lodge #1423. He was a gun and motorcycle enthusiast. He never met a stranger and his smile bonded a stranger to a friend.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Gloria; brother-in law, Jerry Powell (Paulette); two sister-in- laws, Sarah Boudreaux (Paul) & Betty Markle; Aunt, Betty Spurlock; Uncle Jimmy Traber (Peggy); three nieces, Alexa Gunaca, Susie Herrmann (Steve) & Cassie Watson (Dale); two nephews, Frank Markle, III (Melissa) & Paul Boudreaux (Tracy), and their respective children; and his adopted grandchildren, Maggie and Daniel Rider.
Mr. Markle was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Franklin Markle, II.
