Reuben Michalewicz

Funeral Mass for Reuben Eugene "Gene" Michalewicz, 92, of Temple will be held at 9:00 am on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple with Father James Ekeocha officiating. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lott.

Mr. Michalewicz passed away on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 in Temple.

He was born December 13, 1925 in Lott to August and Emma (Friudenberg) Michalewicz. He was raised in Lott and attended school there. Reuben served in the US Navy from March 1944 until May 1946. He was a World War II veteran. He worked as a telephone repairman for Southwestern Bell for over 39 years before retiring in 1985. He married Naomi Bagley on August 13, 1951 and was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple.

Rueben was an avid deer hunter and gardener. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Emma Michalewicz; his brother, Frank Michalewicz and his sister, Joan Scott Watkins.

Survivors include his wife, Naomi Michalewicz of Temple; 2 sons, Larry Michalewicz of Allen and Steve Michalewicz of Temple; 5 grandchildren, Colby, Shelby, Cassie, Caroline and Laura; and 3 great-grandchildren, Rylee, Remington and Lily.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with recitation of Rosary at 7:00 pm.
