alignjustifyRenate Perlis, 81 years old, passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 31st, 2008, after a long valiant effort to cure her re-occurant breast cancer.

alignjustifyShe was born in Gottingen, Germany on November 18, 1926. After High School she earned a degree in business and worked as a secretary and bookkeeper in Bremerhaven, Germany and later in Tokyo, Japan. Renate married Anthony Perlis on May 20th, 1949 in Bremerhaven and moved to Killeen, Texas in 1956. While earning an associate degree at CTC in Killeen, she had a home business selling German bread and magazines, was active in the German American Womens Club serving as President in 69-70 and also was a member of the NCO Wives Club serving as President one year there also. She then was hired by KISD and served as the library aide at Avenue D Elementary and West Ward Elementary for 20 years.

alignjustifyRenate loved to travel, bowl, swim, walk with her friends and dance. She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Luke Catholic Church.

alignjustifyShe was preceded in death by her husband, Tony, and her son, Raymond.

alignjustifySurvivors include her daughter Linda Ward and her husband, Alan; her son, Randy and his wife, Kim and their children, Lauren, Tony and Michelle; and Raymonds daughters, Katie and Rachel Perlis.

alignjustifyA Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 13th at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Funeral Mass will be at 9:30 a.m., August 14th at St. Luke Catholic Church in Temple with burial at 2:00 p.m. the same day at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
