Raymonde Bentley

April 27, 1928 — July 13, 2022

Temple

Raymonde Georgette Bentley, 94, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, in Temple. She was born to the late Robert Maurice Martin and Suzanne Georgette Huscenot in Vernon, France on April 27, 1928. She was in foster care during some of her early years. Raymonde was raised and baptized as a Catholic and was in full communion with the Catholic Church young in life.

Raymonde met her first true love, Clifford Ceman in France. They married and moved to the United States where they raised their daughters. Raymonde became a U.S. citizen on March 2, 1962. She had a brief marriage with Jack Hollers. She then married Harmon Hocker, and they were together for about seven years. Her main focus then and always was her children and grandchildren. Raymonde married for the last time to John Bentley in 2000 until his passing in 2004. Raymonde was a homemaker and caretaker all her life. She was a waitress in her early twenties. She also went into the dry-cleaning business when her daughters were young, doing laundry and pressing for military personnel as her husband Cliff was in the military. She became a business owner when she opened Frenchie’s Lounge from 1976-1979. She then started working as a server at Piccadilly Cafeteria, where she retired in the early 1990’s. She was always such a hard worker, a characteristic which she instilled in her children and grandchildren, as well. Raymonde loved to play bingo and really enjoyed taking her chances at the slots. She made many trips to both Las Vegas and Oklahoma with family. She always said that you have to play big to win big. Raymonde would always wear green because it means money. She was extremely selfless and kindhearted and always loved with her whole heart. Raymonde’s family, including her seven grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren, will miss her greatly. The knowledge that she is now in eternal peace and pain free helps to ease their grief. She was surrounded by her loved ones before passing and will have everlasting life and love in heaven.

Raymonde is preceded in death by her daughters, Genevieve Ceman, and Margaret Moffitt; husband, John Bentley; sister, Madeleine Behm; and her parents.

Raymonde is survived by her daughters, Jacqueline Hardin, and Marie (Mike) Perkins; and a brother-in-law, Robert Behm.
