alignjustifyRay Ybarra, 91, of Temple passed away Wednesday, February 11, 2009 in a local nursing home. Funeral mass will be 10am Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple.

alignjustifyRay Ybarra was born September 7, 1917 to Ezequiel and Rosa Ybarra in Bastrop, Texas. On September 22, 1940, he married Amalia Suniga in Temple. Mr. Ybarra worked as a general laborer for Terrell Granite Works in Temple for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Santo Nombre, SPJST, Pioneer Ballroom, and Cursillistas. Mr. Ybarra was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple.

alignjustifyHe is preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Amalia Ybarra, son, Ray Ybarra, Jr., and daughter, Dolores Ybarra Moreno.

alignjustifySurvivors include: sons; Victor Ybarra and wife Mary of Temple, Jorge Ybarra and wife Lydia of Temple, Edward Ybarra of Temple, Steve Ybarra of Temple, Roy Ybarra and wife Christy of Austin, Jaime Ybarra and wife Norma of Temple, daughters; Regina Ybarra Martinez and husband Barky of Temple, Hope Ybarra Funetes and spouse Johnny of Temple, Mary Ybarra Ramos of Temple, Racheal Ybarra Knighton of Temple, Rita Ybarra Josey of Temple, and Ana Ybarra Woodson of Temple, 30 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

alignjustifyMemorial donations may be made to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church Building Fund, 707 South 6th Street, Temple, Texas 76504.

alignjustifyVisitation will be 6:00-8:00pm Friday at Harper Talasek Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm.
