Rafael Soto

Services for Rafael Gandara Soto, 93, of Temple will be 10:00 am Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating. Interment will follow at Temple Garden of Memories.

Rafael passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015 at his home.

Rafael was born on April 15, 1922 in Durango, Mexico to Hermenegildo Gandara Berumin and Maria Soto. Rafael was a Police Officer, a Security Officer, and also owned and operated a Bar in Mexico before coming to Texas in 1977. He worked on numerous ranches in Texas, was employed by Texas Hydraulics, and retired from Scott and White Hospital.

Rafael is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Felipa Gandara in 2002; sons; Rosalio Gandara and Fermin Gandara; daughters; Hermelinda Gandara, Raquel Silva, and Evarista Gandara; two brothers; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.

Survivors include sons; Alejandro Gandara and Humberto Gandara; daughters; Maria Ibarra, Ermila Gandara, Juanita Gandara, Olga Quinones, Rosa Elva, Isabel Gandara; four sisters; one brother; nineteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 pm with rosary recited at 7:00 pm by Deacon Margarito Alvarado at the funeral home on Monday, September 28th.
