Rafael Garcia

Services for Rafael T. Garcia, 97, of Temple will be 2:00 pm Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel with Father Tom Chamberlain officiating.

Rafael died on Wednesday, January 28, at a local nursing care facility.

Rafael was born on October 12, 1917 in Montemorelos, Mexico to Salvador Garcia and Agueda Torres Garcia. He was raised on a ranch by his grandparents. Rafael came to the states in the 50's to San Antonio and worked as a tailor. He married Josefina Villanueva and they started their family of two daughters and two sons in Wisconsin, then moved back to San Antonio. Rafael was a hard worker and worked 61/2 days a week, working on Sundays. He lived in the Temple area for three years.

Preceded in death are his wife and two daughters, Juanita and Olga.

Survivors include two sons; Pablo Garcia and Rafael Garcia; brother, Usvaldo Garcia; sister, Guadalupe; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8, Saturday, February 14th at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple. Deacon Joe Vela will be officiating the Rosary starting at 7 pm.
