Services for Mr. Pedro Silvas Naranjo, 85, of Temple will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Temple with the Reverend Tom Chamberlain officiating. Entombment will follow in Temple Garden of Memories.
Mr. Naranjo died Monday, July 22, 2013, in a local hospital.
He was born February 23, 1928 in Skidmore, Texas to Lucio Rosales and Olivia Silvas Naranjo. He served in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army as a Private First Class. On August 25, 1947, he married Genoveba Garza in Beeville, Texas. She preceded him in death in 1999.
Mr. Naranjo was a welder and was employed by the American Desk Manufacturing Company for 35 years upon his retirement. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for 55 years a member of Machinist Union Local 2427 Past President of the Bell County Central Labor Council and a member of the Democratic Party. He was a member of Santo Nombre and of the Cursillo Movement.
He was preceded in death by his parents his wife and a brother, Daniel Naranjo.
He is survived by two daughters, Ninfa Melendez of Temple and Rebecca Malvitz of Denver, Colorado a son, Pedro Naranjo, Jr., of Temple 9 grandchildren and 19 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be 68 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home a rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
