Paulina PollyRosie Kopecky, 96, of Holland, Texas died Monday evening, March 28th at her home.

Paulina was born on June 4, 1914 in Weimar, Texas, the oldest of five children born to Louisa Janecka and Emil Kubenka. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Weimar, Texas. As a young woman she was a nanny for the William Banks family in River Oaks in Houston, taking care of two children. There she met an army sergeant named Jaromil Jim Kopecky and married him on February 12, 1946 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Houston. They moved to their Holland farm in 1949. Paulina was a homemaker and sold bushels of peaches each summer from their five acre peach orchard for many years. She was an excellent gardener and cook. She canned until all the jars were filled and also filled up the freezer with bags of fruit and vegetables. Paulina was a kind, hospitable woman who worked exceedingly hard most of her life. Having a caring heart and a warm smile, she visited friends and relatives in area nursing homes. She will be missed by her many friends, neighbors and relatives. Paulina was a long time member of S. S. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas and the SPJST Lodge No. 80 in Holland.

Besides her parents, Paulina was preceded in death by her sister, Albina Hudec and husband, Bill brothers, Bennie and Emil Kubenka and another brother, Jerry Kubenka and wife, Berna Dee Helmcamp.

Paulina is survived by her husband, Jaromil Jim Kopecky who will be 100 in May a daughter, Cathy Milek and husband Ralph granddaughter, Jennifer Milek and grandson, David Milek.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. followed by a rosary from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, April 1st at HarperTalasek Funeral Home at 500 W. Barton Ave. in Temple. Funeral services will be 10:00am, Saturday, April 2nd at S. S. Cyril Methodius Catholic Church in Granger, Texas with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Holland Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 326, Holland, Texas 76534, or to Scott White Hospice, 2401 S. 31st, Temple, Texas 76508.
