Paul Valerio Donoso, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 21, 1946, in Temple, Texas, Paul left a legacy of love, music, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
Paul discovered his passion for music at an early age, performing with his brothers on a makeshift stage in their backyard. His love of music carried him to remarkable heights, as he recorded popular hits, earned nominations for the Tejano Music Awards, and was inducted into both the San Antonio and Houston Tejano Roots Hall of Fame. His contributions to Tejano music will forever be remembered and celebrated.
Above all, Paul was the heart and soul of his family, the patriarch who led with strength, compassion, and selflessness. Alongside his late wife, JoAnn Moreno Donoso, who preceded him in death, Paul built a family rooted in love and unity. JoAnn and Paul shared a profound bond, and their love and partnership remain an enduring example to all who knew them.
Paul dedicated his life to putting others first, always ensuring that his family was cared for. Whether through his wisdom, his lovingly prepared meals, or his boundless affection, he showed everyone around him what it means to truly give of oneself. His home was a place of warmth and welcome, where strangers became family and lifelong memories were made.
A natural entertainer and jokester, Paul, brought joy wherever he went. He was known for his love of dancing, even with his own shadow, and for his ability to make everyone smile with his quick wit and humor. He created traditions that will carry on for generations, filling his family’s lives with treasured memories.
Paul is survived by his loving brothers, Vidal Donoso and Roy Donoso, and his cherished sisters, Adeliada Hernandez, Micaila Ramirez, Gloria Garcia, and Adelina Casillas. He is also survived by his devoted children, Paul Michael Donoso and Steven Donoso, and daughters-in-law Krista Donoso and Laurie Munoz. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Steven Donoso, Danielle Donoso, Isabella Donoso, Gage Donoso, Danica Salinas, Phillip Salinas, Kelsey Burnham, and Kayla Carroll—and his great-grandchildren: Jude Donoso, Jonas Donoso, Avery Munoz-Donoso, Amare Ray, Jada Ray, Jhersi Jackson, Leyla Jimenez, Vivian Burnham, Arora Burnham, Ellayna Powe, and Jackson Paulson.
Paul was preceded in death by his loving wife, JoAnn Moreno Donoso; his parents, Genoveva and John Donoso; and his brothers, John Donoso, Raymond Donoso, and Harold Donoso.
Paul’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and unity. He will be remembered for his generosity, his humor, and the profound impact he had on everyone he met. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit and the legacy of love he leaves behind will never fade.
