Patricia "Patty" Maruna

Patricia (Patty) Frank Maruna, age 81 of Temple, passed away Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Temple, Texas following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Thursday, June 18, 2020 in the Harper-Talasek Funeral Home Chapel in Temple. Burial will follow at Bellwood Memorial Park and Cemetery in Temple.

Patty was born on May 6, 1939, to Frank and Bonnie (Presley) Maruna. She lost her biological mother, Bonnie, on the day of her birth. Because of this, Patty always felt a special connection to her Aunt Bessie, Uncle Joe Jez, and her cousins, Joe D., Dorothy, Wallace, Elizabeth and Frank Lynn Jez, spending much of her early childhood in their home. After graduating from Temple High School in 1957 and Temple College in 1959, Patty worked consistently until her retirement from the Baylor Scott and White Department of Radiology where she was employed for 27 years. She felt particularly blessed that Ruth Vaughn fell in love with and married her father, Frank. Patty is remembered as one who enjoyed dinners with friends and family. Her playful stories of her adventures with her beloved horse, Joker, and Tuffy, one of the first of her many spoiled cats, kept the children in the family entertained for hours. Patty also enjoyed hunting and fishing in the great outdoors. She was a gregarious soul who loved fiercely.

She is preceded in death by Ruth and Frank Maruna, Bessie Jez, Joe Jez, Joe D. Jez, Dorothy Jez Bedrich, and Wallace Jez. She leaves behind many family and friends as well as a much loved cat named Crystal.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 10 am, prior to the service.
