Olga Christy

Services for Olga Lydia Christy, 93, of Temple, will be 10 am Saturday, June 16, at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Pastor Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Bellwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Christy passed away Monday, June 11, at a local hospital.

Olga Lydia Christy was born May 30, 1925 in Holland, Texas to John L. Coufal and Olga L. Marek Coufal. She was one of twelve children. Olga married Earl E. Christy on June 4, 1946 and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2005. She was a life-long resident of Temple and a member of Moody Leon United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School. Olga was a housewife and cared for her family and many nieces and nephews. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, and baking.

Mrs. Christy was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her sisters, Bessie A. Houy and Clara O. Coufal; and her brothers, William H. Coufal, Robert F. Coufal, John L. Coufal; Julius A. Coufal, Henry J. Coufal, Frank E. Coufal, Louis J. Coufal, Joe L. Coufal, and Alvin F. Coufal.

Olga is survived by three generations of loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-8 pm Friday, June 15, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in honor of Mrs. Christy may be made to Moody Leon UMC Memorial Fund, c/o John Carpenter, 111 Avenue B, Moody Texas 76557.
