Olan Jackson

Olan Jackson, 88, of Temple, and formerly of Orange, Texas, passed away Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 21, 2008 at Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Rev. David Starkey officiating. Interment will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park in Temple.

Mr. Jackson was born to Charlie and Kate Goodson Jackson in Shelby County, Texas on November 20, 1919. He grew up in Center, Texas, where he met and married the love of his life, Mavouryne L. Livingston on December 24, 1941. He joined the Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1946. He then moved his wife and family to Orange, Texas and began working for DuPont SRW as a cost accountant, retiring in 1976. While at DuPont, Olan was promoted to the position of Paymaster, not only of the Orange, Texas plant, but of all DuPont plants in the southern United States and South America. He also served as President of the DuPont Employees Recreation Association for 8 years. He was elected to the school board for Orangefield Independent School District and served as President from 1958 to 1966. Following his retirement from DuPont in 1976, Olan and Mavouryne moved to Temple to start a family owned home health agency, Jackson HealthCare Systems.

Olan was preceded in death by his wife, Mavouryne; daughter, Olana; sisters, Ione Wood and Nell Moore; brother, Charles Larry Butch Jackson; and his parents, Kate and Charlie Jackson.

Survivors include his children, Lane Ellis and her husband, Mark of Temple, Jerry and his wife, Juanita of Brenham, Mike and his wife, Elaine of Georgetown, Pat Jackson of Temple and Ron Jackson of Temple; grandchildren, Sherri Worley and her husband, Brent of Morgans Point Resort, Shana Steinke and her husband, Steve of Kingwood, Mardi Zaeske and her husband, Bret of Humble, Jessica Jackson of San Diego, California, Rachael Jackson of Austin, Jennifer Jackson of Temple, Chrissy Robinson and her husband, Oneal of Temple and Adam Jackson and his wife, Elisha of Temple; great grandchildren, Taylor and Bryce Worley, Tyton Brown, Kade Nathman aand McKenzie Jackson; brothers and sisters, Sandy Parkhurst of Orange, Billy Sister Grindol of Lake Charles, Louisiana, J.W. Jackson of Beaumont and Alan Wayne Nicky Jackson of Orange.

Visitation will be Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
